Why This Event Matters

The Hip Hop Marathon was created by the nonprofit Protect The Creatives to raise critical funds for initiatives that support songwriters, tackle systemic issues in the music industry, and confront gun violence in our communities. A major portion of proceeds goes toward the Rappers Against Pistols program, a handgun-only buyback initiative aimed at removing firearms from circulation and reducing violence in under-championed neighborhoods.

Additionally, this event funds our mission to educate songwriters about music publishing, ownership of their masters, emotional intelligence, and career development — ensuring artists are not only heard, but protected.

This is more than a run.
